1834 March 17 William Sympson, age 67 on the 25th day Oct 1833, applied for a pension based on his Revolutionary War service. He entered service in Sullivan County, (then North Carolina, later Tennessee) in October 1781.  He served as a substitute for his father Henry Sympson during his first tour and completed additional tours afterward. He stated that he was born 25 Oct. 1766 in Pennsylvania.
